With a population of about 400,000 residents, the state of Nueva Esparta is one of the least populated of the Venezuelan territory, however due to its small area (as its territory is fully island), its population density is relatively normal.

Over 50% of its population is concentrated in the cities of Pampatar, Porlamar and Juan Griego, these being the most important towns of the island.
